Role Overview

This is a varied, outward-facing role where you’ll meet with payroll bureaux and accountants, understanding their businesses and identifying opportunities to grow their existing employer client base with Nest, as well as onboarding new Nest Connect accounts. As a Business Development Manager (Nest Connect), you will help partners use Nest Connect to simplify their workplace pension administration, building strong relationships and driving business growth. This is a fully remote role.

Role highlights include:

  •  Managing a pipeline of existing and prospective Nest Connectors, planning where your time and engagement will have the greatest impact.
  •  Holding a mix of face-to-face and online meetings, following up leads and building trusted relationships across the payroll and accountancy sectors.
  • Helping new organisations adopt Nest Connect and supporting existing users to extend its use across more of their employer clients.
  • Leading account-development activity - from identifying a promising opportunity and agreeing a plan through to onboarding, growth and, where appropriate, handover to the Key Account Management team.
  • Providing insight into initiatives that improve the Nest Connect proposition, customer journey, service or marketing.
  • Planning and presenting webinars, representing Nest at industry events and turning the conversations you have into new opportunities.
  • Keeping development plans, customer records and reporting up to date so that progress, risks and next steps remain clear.
  • You’ll have the freedom to organise your own activity within an agreed framework, while working closely with colleagues across B2B and wider Nest.
  • The common thread is turning insight and strong relationships into sustainable growth and better experiences for employers and members.
The minimum criteria for this role are:

  • Knowledge of UK pension regulation and the UK pension landscape
  • Proven B2B sales experience
  • A good understanding of how the payroll market interacts with workplace pensions
  • Evidence of influencing outcomes and objection handling skills

Don't worry if you think you don't have all the key skills, it might be worth taking the few minutes to apply as we're good at spotting potential. At Nest, you’ll have access to a range of learning opportunities to learn, grow and build the skills you need to be successful in your role and career.

Directorate/Department Overview

Departmental/Directorate overview

Nest is a great government delivery success story. Established in 2010, Nest has been a critical pillar of the government’s automatic enrolment programme, with a public service obligation (PSO) to accept any employer wishing to use the scheme to discharge their automatic enrolment duties.

From a standing start, we have delivered a high-quality, low-cost pension scheme, open to all, which has not only delivered on its mission, but helped to drive up standards and best practice across the industry. Now with over 14 million members, Nest is playing a critical role in helping people save for their retirement many of them low to moderate earners who may be saving for the first time and moving jobs frequently.

Nest now occupies a place in the market as a major Master Trust, a sector that has grown following the introduction of automatic enrolment and that we believe has great potential for delivering pensions to mass market consumers for many years to come, leveraging scale to offer low cost, modernised services in the context of strong Trustee governance.

To best serve our diverse customer base, it’s important that Nest has an equally diverse workforce and promotes an inclusive culture. This is in line with the organisation’s values and ensures that Nest is a corporation fit for the future.

Directorate overview

The Nest Experience (NX) directorate is responsible for developing and evolving the propositions for our customers, for the service and experience that they enjoy and working with our delivery partners to ensure their data and assets are kept safe. This includes:

  • Definition of our customer strategies
  •  Developing, maintaining and evolving our customer value propositions
  • The brand and marketing of Nest to our customers
  • The design of the service experience our customers enjoy across all channels
  • Working with our partner, TCS, to deliver a service that delights our customers and keeps their data and assets safe
